Mushroom Jar

Service Description
In this two session class, we will be using hand building techniques to create your very own vessel to grow gourmet mushrooms. You will also learn how to inoculate your new mushroom jar with mushroom spawn and growing medium! In our first session, students will enjoy 3 hours of coiling and slab building mushrooms jars. You will have the opportunity to decorate your vessels with underglaze paints or opt to glaze it all in white gloss. Jars will be fired and glazed professionally before meeting for the second session. During the second and final 1.5 hour session, you will inoculate your jars with blue oyster mushrooms and take them home. Mushrooms should start to appear 1.5 to 2 weeks after inoculation. Each person will receive five pounds of clay to start. More clay will be available if needed. No previous clay experience necessary, though it may be helpful.

Cancellation Policy
If you must cancel your reservation, please do so as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds or move students to a different class time for scheduling conflicts . The number of people asking to move their reservations is simply too high that the school can not afford to accommodate this and still keep class fees affordable. We do occasionally have a waitlist for classes, if someone is able to take your place you can be refunded or moved to a different class. Feel free to ask but again this is not guaranteed. Alternatively if you can not make it to your scheduled class you can always find someone you know to take your place. If you would like to cancel your reservation, please email tinybitofwood@gmail.com with the subject line “Cancellation”. Thank you for understanding, Megan Shannon
