Service Description

During each week of summer camp we will work as a group to build something for the community and this week it will be a Chimney Swift house! Chimney swifts (Chaetura pelagica) are urban birds that have suffered steep declines over recent decades throughout their range. Since 2022 they have been considered ‘Tipping Point Species,’ meaning they have lost over 50% of their population since 1970. Reasons for this decline include insecticide use, loss of man-made nesting and roosting structures, and habitat loss on their non-breeding grounds in South America. In the start of each day students will learn about different tools in the wood shop and then have time for child lead learning and free building. We will spend some time each day working on the community build and learning about the Chimney Swifts as we go. At the end of each day we will have a nature related art project and time for kids to paint on the shop windows creating a large mural over the span of the whole summer! Camp is for kids ages 6-16yrs, all kids must be potty trained. Parents/Guardians are required to sign a waiver but not required to stay during the class. Scholarships are available if anyone needs help cover the class fee please email me at tinybitofwood@gmail.com There will be a additional charge of $20 every 30 minutes for late pick up

Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel your reservation, please do so as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds or move students to a different class time for scheduling conflicts . The number of people asking to move their reservations is simply too high that the school can not afford to accommodate this and still keep class fees affordable. We do occasionally have a waitlist for classes, if someone is able to take your place you can be refunded or moved to a different class. Feel free to ask but again this is not guaranteed. Alternatively if you can not make it to your scheduled class you can always find someone you know to take your place. If you would like to cancel your reservation, please email tinybitofwood@gmail.com with the subject line “Cancellation”. Thank you for understanding, Megan Shannon
