Kurinuki Bowl

100 US dollars
507 East Shiawassee Street

Service Description

While most ceramics are either thrown on the wheel, coiled, pinched or slab built, Kurinuki is the art of carving away at a solid block of clay to reveal your vessel hidden inside. We will be utilizing Kurinuki to carve bowls using a spackle knife (bring your own if you have one!) and a loop tool. This technique results in a vessel that feels solid, organic and like it was chiseled out of a piece of rock. Each person will receive two 2lb blocks of clay to make two bowls. Participants will not be able to glaze their vessels during class but some glaze options will be provided. All bowls will then be glazed and finished professionally. Allow 2-3 weeks before your vessels will be ready to pick up.

Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel your reservation, please do so as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds or move students to a different class time for scheduling conflicts . The number of people asking to move their reservations is simply too high that the school can not afford to accommodate this and still keep class fees affordable. We do occasionally have a waitlist for classes, if someone is able to take your place you can be refunded or moved to a different class. Feel free to ask but again this is not guaranteed. Alternatively if you can not make it to your scheduled class you can always find someone you know to take your place. If you would like to cancel your reservation, please email tinybitofwood@gmail.com with the subject line “Cancellation”. Thank you for understanding, Megan Shannon
