Service Description
Are you ready to be bold and work big?! Have a blast with friends while creating a gallery-ready 2 ft x 3 ft painting of a landscape of your choosing that any friend or family member would say, “Oh my!” when gifted. You will stretch your own canvas over a handmade frame, learn acrylic painting essentials, and develop an eye for appreciating the scenery. We will have some collaborative times but each student will create their own masterpiece. All ability levels will enjoy this fabulous painting class. Instructor: Jill Dombrowski. jill.h.dombrowski@gmail.com Dates/times: Four Fridays - May 1, 8, 15, 22 from 6:00 - 7:30pm with potentially a show on May 30th 6:30pm - 8:30pm Max students: 12 - ages 12 and up (could go younger potentially?)Class structure: Day 1 - stretching + gesso (in pairs) - talking about landscape painting - and the goals for the class / look at some example historical paintings / do some sketches - going for six sketches with 10-20 areas in each Day 2 - warm undertone on canvas - develop a color pallette - choose favorite of the six sketches made the previous day - do three copy sketches of the same landscape - choose three different color pallets to try and do three color studies - a little talk about color theory: lighter in the background, brightest in the mid ground, darker in foreground, and warm colors closer, cool colors further away Day 3 - Sketch landscape shapes on the big canvas and block out the colors based on favorite practice colors from last time - emphasis on stroke direction, choice to use dry brush to see the undertone, start from the top down, fuzzy far away and crisper closer in Day 4 - Add detail to landscape shapes - two detail colors for each base shape color - warmer and lighter + darker and cooler - can experiment with style, or realistic look

Cancellation Policy
If you must cancel your reservation, please do so as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we are unable to issue refunds or move students to a different class time for scheduling conflicts . The number of people asking to move their reservations is simply too high that the school can not afford to accommodate this and still keep class fees affordable. We do occasionally have a waitlist for classes, if someone is able to take your place you can be refunded or moved to a different class. Feel free to ask but again this is not guaranteed. Alternatively if you can not make it to your scheduled class you can always find someone you know to take your place.
